Jeffrey Jordan heading to play for Illinois

Michael Jordan's son, Jeffrey, who played at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois picked the Fighting Illini over Valparaiso University, and he is going to be a walk-on. By the way, I came across a neat video on Michael Jordan's 69 point game on March 28, 1990 as the Bulls traveled to take on Cleveland. Check it out.

Adrian Peterson reinjured shoulder in Fiesta Bowl

A report from CNNSI tells us that Adrian Peterson reinjured his shoulder during Oklahoma's Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State on January 1st. Despite his injury, he continued to play and scored on two touchdown runs. The question arises though, is Peterson to much of a risk for injury or was the end-zone dive that resulted in a broken collar-bone against Iowa State a fluke? We all know that Peterson runs with great passion and reckless abandon, but where will he fall in this week's NFL Draft? Our guess is probably Minnesota, but with this new revelation of future shoulder surgery his stock may be falling.

Ohio State Pays Tribute to Virginia Tech

The 2007 annual Spring Game in Columbus for the Ohio State Buckeyes was a smashing success. Not only did 75,000 attend the scrimmage, but we all saw a class-act showing by Coach Tressel and his team as they sported Virginia Tech logos on their helmets. A stirring gesture of support from one of the nation's most respected programs. It is expected that many more teams around the country will honor Virginia Tech with such actions in the upcoming season. But for one day, we give props to Ohio State and their great football program.

Oden to the NBA along with 2 other Buckeyes!

Well it seems that Greg Oden is headed for the NBA. Maybe it should not come as a big surprise but he will be followed according to sources by high school and college teammate Mike Conley Jr. I am in the Conley Jr. camp, and with reports that he could be a lottery pick, I think this is a good move for him. I had a chance to see him in person at the final four and I came away very impressed. I would compare him to the Dallas Maverick's Devon Harris. Very quick, good passer, good shooter. Probably will never be the star of his team, but someone you can count on as long as he gets in a groove. The news out of Ohio that did come as a surprise is that Daequan Cook is going to join his two freshman Teammates. I think Cook is a talent. I think he will make it someday, but I guess he thinks and maybe others that he is ready now. He has not hired an agent, so he could change his mind, but I think it's a bit of a stretch that he would go in the first round this season.

Jeff Peterson to Iowa!

I was still in bed this morning when I got the text. Jeff Peterson has decided to play his college basketball at Iowa. I could not be more excited about this for him. Jeff is as good a guy as it gets. He is vastly underrated as a basketball player and I seriously think I would vote for him if he ever ran for president.

Just a bit of background on the chap. He was committed to play at Princeton, which with his grades would have been a good fit. He reopened his recruiting earlier this year and was looked at by many programs. I have no idea what swayed him towards Iowa, but frankly I don't care. He is someone who I would trust on this decision more so than myself. I think he will make a huge impact at Iowa and I am now considering signing up for the Big 10 channel just so I can continue to watch him.

We did a story on Peterson last season and saw him again at the PrimeTime Tour in New Jersey. The guy can play and now every one the Big 10 will learn it first hand.

Congrats Jeff!

Trojan to depart for the NBA!

O.J. Mayo will not have dynamic 6'6" Swingman Nick Young next season when he gets to U.S.C. That is because Nick has decided to head to the NBA. While Nick has yet to sign an agent don't expect him back with the Trojans next year as most think he will go in the first round of the draft.

Text Message Ban for NCAA Coaches?

I am a bit surprised but it seams as though the NCAA could be moving towards a ban on Text Messages during silent recruiting periods. I am sure that parents of recruits are excited about this as they will not have to pay for unlimited texts. Personally I think that text messages have gotten out of hand. When I am with a recruit they typically get about 30-40 a day. I guess I feel that is too much. But most recruits I have asked, do not wish the texts to go away. They are not troubled by it. That being said I have a feeling that Text Messages will be a thing of the past when it comes to recruiting.
